Mammut are marking the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of the Matterhorn with a impressive light chain displaying the 1865 route to the summit:
14 July marks the 150th anniversary of the first ascent of the Matterhorn. In preparation for the anniversary celebrations next year, Mammut used a chain of lights to trace the route over the Hörnligrat in collaboration with mountain guides from the town of Zermatt. The action was a tribute to Edward Whymper’s rope team – the first to climb the Matterhorn.
In many places the along the chain, mountaineers wore headlamps on their climbing helmets, while at other points lamps that had been previously installed by the mountain guides were used. The spectacular action was documented by the famous Swiss mountain sports photographer Robert Bösch.
We also noticed Mammut have a seriously vast and impressive library of desktop wallpapers – so if you computer needs a but of a spruce up checkout their Flickr feed here.
